This Nominee program is designed to focus on individuals who have the educational, skill, and work experience necessary to positively contribute to the economic growth of whichever province they wish to migrate to, while also becoming permanent residents in Canada.
Each province has its own set of nominee streams and programs, with a primary target of business people, students, skilled and semi–skilled workers, all of whom have the qualifications and capabilities to help enhance the nation‘s prosperity..
Application process
In order to apply for this form of immigration, applicants must have a police check in the form of a certificate and pass a medical test.
These requirements are mandatory regardless of the province the applicant will be living in. Additionally, the application process is dependent on the type of Provincial Nominee Program being applied for and can be done online or through a paper–based process.
Paper-based process
If you want to apply for permanent residency in Canada, you must go through the paper–based application process.
This involves applying to a specific province or territory you would like to live in under the non–Express Entry stream. Each province has its own requirements for eligibility which you must meet in order to be accepted.
If you are nominated, you must submit a written application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, take a medical exam and provide a police check certificate.
This process is mandatory for anyone looking to live in Canada, but it takes longer than the Express Entry process.
Express Entry process
To apply for the Express Entry process, you can either contact the province or territory you are interested in, and apply for their Express Entry stream/batch.
If you have already created an Express Entry profile, you will need to update it with proof that you have been nominated. Alternatively, you can create an Express Entry profile with the province or territory you are interested in, and wait for their notification.
If you are nominated, you will receive a notification through your personal account and will need to accept it electronically. In either case, you will need to meet the eligibility requirements for the territory and create an Express Entry profile.
Once you are invited to apply, you will need to submit your application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
